About Us

I (Saturnino Caluducan) have always loved animals.  When my children were young, they developed a common interest in our animals.  My son and daughter both, with my help, raised and showed rabbits.  However, rabbit showing wasn't as interesting to me as it was for the children.  I knew then it was time for me to find an interest that I could call my own.  I started going to local dog shows and watched all the handlers in the ring.  Outside of the ring, I would talk to some of the breeders about their dogs.  I would note the good and bad points of the breeds.   Finally in 1987, I narrowed down my decision to two breeds, the Newfoundland and the Great Pyrenees.  I couldn't decide so, I bought one of each.  First, I bought Max a Newf, and Princess a Pyrenees.  That was the year Tycoon Kennels was started.  As a new person to the dog show ring, I learned a lot of things the hard way. I got very frustrated at one point so I put my dogs with handlers.   Soon the dogs were finished training.  I was happy they were finished but I still didn't have the satisfaction I was looking for.  So, I practiced with my dogs at home, took them to classes and studied the professionals a little closer. In the mean time, I was still buying dogs in hopes of improving my breeding stock.  I really wanted to finish training my own dogs.  I started showing more often to get myself known in the ring.  I finally finished two of the dogs myself in 1994 with Meghan and Pearlita, both Great Pyrenees. Contract, Pedigree, and References on Request.
